I am learning patterns of numbers that make ten.

"I am putting the dots in the right place, and they equals 10. It was hard to do the counting.  Mrs Wyatt helped me do the counting."

I am learning to retell what I have read.

"I am good at saying what happens at the beginning and middle and end of the story.  It is hard to learn the words that I don't know.  It is easy to turn the pages and point to the words.  My Mum and sister and Mrs Wyatt helps me with my reading."

"We had to do star jumps, and run around and over things. It was tricky going over the ladder. The Youthtown people told us how to do it."

I am learning to write words with vowels as the middle sound.

"I can write a Silly Sentence.  The words sound the same - rhyme.  All the middle letters are a's.  Mrs Wyatt helps me learn the words."

Whole Class Reflection – Art

Learning: “I learnt how to draw patterns.”   “I learnt to not put too much dye on the cotton bud.”.  “I learnt about tapa from Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands.”

Tricky: “Drawing some patterns was tricky.”  “The dying – had to be very careful.” “Keeping the vivid on the pencil lines.”

Proud: “The dye looked beautiful and I was proud of that.”   “I was proud of my patterns.”

Help: “I needed help to dye some parts of the panels, drawing over the pencil lines with vivid, putting the right cotton bud in the right container, knowing about different patterns.”

Next: “I want to learn more patterns.”   “I want to know more about the Cook Islands, Tonga and tapa.”  “I want to use vivids more in the classroom.”  “I want to learn more about drawing.”

I am learning to read as I write to make sure my writing makes sense.

"It is tricky to write the words because I don't know how to spell them.  I am good at drawing the pictures.  Mrs Wyatt helps me do my writing."

I am learning to identify a sentence, for eg, the beginning with capital letters and the end with full stops.

"I am making a word.  It was easy to find the letter.  Rory helped and I helped him.  I felt good when I was finished."

I am learning to add and subtract problems that involve ten as one of the numbers.

"I liked counting the beans.  I am good at writing numbers."

In Reading we have been learning lots of things to help 

us to work out new letter sounds and words.

I am learning to attempt to write my idea in a sentence that makes sense and re-read my story to the teacher

In Writing we have been learning lots of things like writing our ideas in a sentence and writing some sounds in words.

"I can write some words by myself" Zoe said.

Rangoli Pattern

We have been learning about different celebrations this term.  This is my Indian Rangoli Pattern.  We were learning to make our pattern look symmetrical.

"I was good at colouring in the white background and making my colours symmetrical."

Dice Patterns

We have been learning dice patterns.

"It was tricky for me to draw the squares and to make numbers patterns with two dice up to ten."
